32 x 40″ mixed media on canvas January 2017 the first painting of the New Year
I am inspired by the richness and depth of pattern as it reflects the many layers of life and the world around us, the symmetry of Mandelas working out from a center, and the pattern our actions. Love is symmetrical- small actions and reactions of reaffirment and care.
This painting was a keystone image for my show at the Henry Sheldon Museum:
an exhibit to lament climate change
It sold for $2400.00 during the opening. This a large vibrant painting. The mix of flat paints and metallic foils make the surface change and dance as you move before it changing the light. It is also the first study in my interest in mandalas as they depict the circles of life. My mandela series is in process now. Large complex illustrations based in the cycles of nature.
Love is symmetrical also was used as the cover for my book;
Come together . a handbook to retool for the future.
I hope to ignite a bottom-up movement to change our daily habits to environmentally responsible ones- improving the health of all living things and our planet.
